Best No-Code App Builder: How to Choose
"Best" depends on what you are building. This page compares the tools we cover and gives you five questions that narrow the field faster than any feature table.
Five questions before you pick
- Where does your data live today? Sheets → Glide. Airtable or Notion → Softr. Nowhere yet → either; pick by the app you want.
- Who uses the app? Just your team → Glide or Softr. Clients or members who sign in → Softr's permissions shine.
- Is it mobile-first? A tool your team opens on phones all day → Glide.
- How many users will it grow to? Dozens → both fine. Thousands of public users → check the pricing pages carefully; per-user pricing adds up.
- How custom is the design or logic? Standard portals and trackers → no-code is fine. Deeply custom product → budget for a flexible builder or code.
The field at a glance
| Tool | Best for | Know before you buy |
|---|---|---|
| Glide | Spreadsheet-to-app, mobile internal tools | Two product lines (GlideOS vs Classic); see the Glide guide for pricing |
| Softr | Client portals, memberships, intranets | Flat pricing that scales with users; see the Softr guide for pricing |
| Adalo | Native-style mobile apps with custom screens | More design freedom than Glide or Softr, but more to learn; pricing not verified here — check the official site |
| Bubble | Full-featured web apps with custom logic | The most powerful of this list and the steepest learning curve; pricing not verified here — check the official site |
| GoodBarber | Mobile apps and e-commerce apps | Strong for content and shop apps; pricing not verified here — check the official site |
When no-code is the wrong call
Skip no-code and talk to a developer when you need: a fully custom product with unusual logic, very high scale or real-time performance, or a native app with deep device features. No-code saves weeks on standard apps; it does not replace engineering for everything.
